Furniture Reuse Organisation Wins Big Society Awards

The Furniture Recycling Project (FRP), an FRN member based in Gloucestershire, is the latest winner of the Prime Minister’s Big Society Award

The FRP works tirelessly to meet two main objectives; to provide safe, clean and affordable furniture and electrical goods to low income households, and to support and develop local trainees, volunteers and staff in their personal development. FRP is also one of the 60 FRN Approved Re-use Centres in the UK.

Huge re-use potential in bulky waste revealed in new WRAP report

More than half of all bulky waste items taken to household waste and recycling centres (HWRCs) could be re-used, according to a new report published by WRAP today.

The new report also reveals that 40% of bulky items collected at the kerbside, such as sofas and TVs, could be re-used.

FRN and IKEA Partnership Shortlisted for National Recycling Awards

The Furniture Re-use Network and IKEA have been shortlisted for the National Recycling Awards.

The National Recycling Awards 2012, organised by MRW, recognise and celebrate the very best practice within the waste and resource recycling industry. The FRN and IKEA Partnership is shortlisted in the Best Partnership Project for Recycling category. The awards ceremony will be held in London in July.
