The Furniture Re-use Sector – It’s not just about the Waste

“We’re not just about selling second-hand furniture and diverting it from landfill” said the Furniture Re-use Network (FRN) at its annual conference last week. But it wants and needs more of it.

This was exemplified by the winners of 3 FRN Re-use Awards at its 25th anniversary gala dinner last Thursday evening, who showed that they and many in the sector have diversified into other markets and operations, and deliver enormous social value to individuals, communities and partners.

FRN Welcomes Local Government Association’s Announcement on Local Welfare Assistance Fund

Furniture re-use charities are helping people in crisis but can’t do it alone.

This is the message from the Furniture Re-use Network (FRN), the national charity which leads and supports over 300 re-use charities across the UK in response to today’s news from the Local Government association (LGA) about its call to Government to rethink its decision to scrap the £347 million Local Welfare Assistance fund.

Personal Statement from Craig Anderson of FRN: New Year’s Honours OBE

This is wonderful news and I am extremely grateful for this recognition and being honoured with an OBE. It is a very humbling experience to be honoured in this way. This award also honours and recognises the work of the Furniture Re-use Network; the team, the board and the charity reuse sector across the UK. This is where the hard work is done and the successes accomplished. This is very much a sector that is driven by creating benefit for society.
