Furniture Recycling Network Name Change
FRN members' voted overwhelmingly in favour of altering our Network's name from Recycling
to Re-use. 75% of members voted in favour of changing our name to The Furniture Re-use Network.
The FRN Executive Committee felt this change was necessary for several reasons;
Re-use describes the majority of FRN members activities, provides a clearer picture and
highlights our area of expertise to all external bodies
Re-use is increasingly being recognised in its own right, and with
this greater funding opportunities are becoming available. It is important
our name is a true representation of our members' activities.
In the current climate, re-use offers the only affordable solution for the socially
excluded and those on low incomes. By enshrining this term within our Network's name, we
hope that the wider value, the wider context and the real potential our members' represent
will be better understood by all.
Our new name was officially launched at the FRN Annual Conference 2003.
